Association for Women in Computing -  President's Message

Welcome to the Association for Women in Computing (AWC) website.

We are a national professional organization for professionals involved with information and technology dedicated to the advancement of women in the technology fields. We offer camaraderie with like-minded professionals through our chapters and a growing network of independent members. Our chapters provide member outreach and networking across a wide variety of computing and technology job functions, business segments, and personal interests. In addition, our members find valuable tools such as continuing education opportunities through association programs and opportunities to develop career enhancing mentoring relationships with other members.

AWC chapters have a long history of giving back to the community through social investment. AWC members are leaders who are passionate about young people interestested in careers in technology and take the time to volunteer at job fairs, teach at technology workshops, and provide job shadowing opportunities. Several chapters offer scholarships to women seeking technology careers. Many chapters hold clothing drives to provide interview-suitable ensembles to allow women seeking a chance at a new career. Some chapters collect technology for national and local organizations that refurbish and distribute technology to under-resourced communities. You can check out these partners in our Alliance Partner links.

2009 is destined to bring us many opportunities as well as challenges. You can count on AWC as a partner in your success.
